Predicting Adverse Effects of Oral Immunotherapy
Alerje, an innovative startup in the field of food allergies in the United States, is leading a revolution with its advanced oral immunotherapy system. This approach focuses on closely monitoring side effects to ensure that patients receive doses that are both safe and effective. Alerje's goal was to take advantage of its enormous amount of data to develop a model capable of predicting the most appropriate treatment dose, based on the possible side effects experienced by patients, such as abdominal pain and nausea.
At WhiteBox, we have created an algorithm that, using Alerje's extensive database together with open source tools such as scikit-learn, accurately predicts the adverse reactions that a patient may experience for a given dose of oral immunotherapy. This innovative model has been successfully implemented on Google Cloud Platform, marking the beginning of a second phase aimed at further expanding and refining our solutions, expanding to more types of treatments and other food allergies.
The model developed by WhiteBox has changed the way in which Alerje interacts with its customers, providing them with a more comprehensive and personalized treatment experience. Not only has this increased the success rate of treatments, but it has also significantly optimized the time needed for patients to start seeing positive results after starting oral immunotherapy.
